Congrats to the 'Hawks

Bauer Hockey would like to congratulate the Chicago Blackhawks on winning their first Stanley Cup and ending a 49 year drought.

Patrick Kane, who finished the playoffs with 28 points, scored the overtime game winning goal 4 minutes into the extra session that started the celebration in Chicago.

"I knew it went in right away," Kane said. "What a feeling. I can't believe it. We just won the Stanley Cup. I can't believe this just happened. ... It's something you dream about, scoring the final goal in the Stanley Cup finals."

Kane and his Vapor X:60 stick finished the postseason with 10 goals and 18 assists.

Once again, congrats to the Blackhawks and their exciting win.

2009 Bauer Athlete Summit

The 2009 Bauer Athlete Summit took place over the summer and here is your chance to take an inside look at what took place.

Bauer brought together over 20 of the best hockey players in the world to get their feedback over a couple of days. There was some on ice testing of new gear, photoshoots and of course, a scrimmage.

It was pretty cool to see the guys give each other hard time or chirp friends and teammates while out on the ice. Take a look at how the event went and let us know what you think...enjoy.

Bauer Q & A

1. Kurt: What is Bauer's curve to Easton's Heatley?

At retail, the Kane P88 will be what you're looking for, but on iD, the P12 is even closer.

2. Doug: Are the 31in. one75 pads available in intermediate sizing ? (i.e 11in. width), do they also come with the plus 1?

The ONE75 31" is a junior size and is not available in a plus 1.

3. Is it possible to order a mask directly from Bauer? I have been looking everywhere trying to find a youth Spiderman Action mask with no luck at all. My son seems set on that particular mask but it seems tough to find.

Everything must be purchased through a retailer. You should call your local dealer by using our Dealer Locator or use the internet to find that mask design. Also your local store could likely order it.

4. Kenny: Is it possible to get the bauer rx9's in a 38'+1 No 37+1" is the largest size we make. My bauer 3000 goal skates wore out.I loved them. Are there any more left of that discontinued series?

Sorry, unfortunately there are no more available.

5. Davis: My son airs out his equipment religously; however, his NV7 K9 mask is still getting rust on the inside. How can I clean it now and avoid this in the future?

Rust is difficult to combat. Even if gear is dried out it still is spends a lot of time wet and damp and over time rust can form. On the NV7 mask you can upgrade to a stainless steel wire which will take care of most vulnerable part. Also changing out the hardware every few years is fairly inexpensive and is an easy way to refurbish the mask yourself. Taking the mask apart and wire brushing the rusted areas would be another option.

6. Brandon: In goalie ads i know itech was supposed to come out with the x-rated goal pads are you guys gona come out with that anytime soon.

No, but the Supreme ONE100 that is coming out in the spring is very similar.

7. Israels: When are the new bauer goalie skates coming out, I especially want to see the new vapor goalie skates.

New Supreme goalie skates will be in stores in April. We won't be making a new Vapor skate.

8. Paul: I'm playing with pro-stock Malkin sticks and I'm now addicted to the actual blade he's using. Is there any way I can custom order these sticks?

Sorry, it's not possible to order those.

9. John: My son has a size 4 Nike Bauer one35's. His foot has grown slightly and still fits in the skate but the footbad does not match his mold. Is there any way of adjusting the mold again?

Skates can be reheated up to three times, but our advice is to go to your local retailer for proper re-heating and molding.

10. Lucas: I purchased One90 skates for my son and now his younger brother is using them. His first time out one of the blades broke. I can understand that blades break. What I don't understand is that Bauer no longer makes blades for the skates. A top of the line skate that no one has replacement blades for. I think that is horrible product support. Now what do we do?

Hi Lucas, sorry to hear about the broken blade. Your best solution will be to have your local retailer replace the holder and the blade. Sorry for the inconvenience.

11. Max: I am looking for the FLEXLITE 4.0 skates and none of the Hockey stores in Montreal carry them , Can you tell me if they will be shipped out to retail stores?

Hi Max, your best bet would be to check our Dealer Locator and check out your local retailers. Thanks.

12. Jordy: When are x60 gloves coming out?

The new Bauer Vapor X:60 gloves will be available in the spring of 2010. Thanks.

Practice of a Lifetime

Phil Kessel recently gave a Minnesota hockey team a memory they won't soon forget. Last week, Kessel ran a practice for contest winner Kyler Moss and his teammates. Moss won the "Practice of a Lifetime Sweepstakes" which was put on by Play It Again Sports and Bauer.

Kessel spoke to the kids and put them through drills that he routinely participates in with the Boston Bruins. Due to recent shoulder surgery though, Kessel stayed off the ice and did his coaching from behind the bench.

"Obviously, I'm not a coach, but obviously...I've done a lot of practices and I wanted to show them a couple drills out there," Kessel said.

The latest Winter Classic took place last New Year's Day in Chicago when the Blackhawks and Red Wings took the ice at historic Wrigley Field.
