As the free agency period began today, you knew there were going to be a flurry of signings and trades. Today, Erik Cole was traded from the Carolina Hurricanes to the Edmonton Oilers.
Cole had spent his entire NHL career in the Carolina organization which started back in 1998 when he was drafted in the third round. He broke into the league in 2001 and has been a constant in the Hurricanes lineup ever since. He has scored 20 or more goals the last three seasons and was a key contributor to the 'Canes Stanley Cup title in 2006.
Edmonton is certainly getting a hard nosed, gritty, talented winger who will the fans over quickly. Best of luck to Erik and the upcoming season. We'll have reaction and more news to come on all NBH athletes. Check back often.
